History of Our School

Sultan Mahmut's other female master (SULTAN ABDÜLAZİZ's mother), PERTEVNİYAL SULTAN, not only built Valide Mosque, which is named Aksaray, but also built the Mahmudiye High School, named after her husband in 1873, right next to the mosque's eastern door. In this school, from the time of ABDÜLAZİZ and until the building burned down on 23 July 1911, a great poet like Tevfik FİKRET, a great orator like Hamdullah Suphi TANRIÖVER, a novelist and great soldier like Hüseyin Rahmi GÜRPINAR, raised great country children like Cevat ÇOBANLI.

In the Republican era, it continued for a while in rented wooden mansions. For example, after the Aksaray fire, it was transferred to a wooden mansion near Kızılminare Mosque in Horhor and then to Ismet Bey's mansion in the east of our current school. Our school, which worked as Mahmudiye Primary School until 1924-1925, was transferred to the Directorate of National Education in the 1925-1926 academic year and was named as the 45th primary school. He moved to Hekimoğlu Ali Paşa School as a guest in the 1936-1937 academic year and stayed there until the 1937-1938 academic year. In the academic year of 1938-1939, he moved to the People's House building in Aksaray market and worked with secondary school by doing double education.

It moved to its current building on 29 October 1939. (In the past, there was Redif Pasha's Mansion at the place of this building. In this mansion, respectively, the Civil School, Bezmialem Sultaniye, Girls Industry School and finally it was used as a tobacco warehouse.)

Our school, which had double education under the names of 45th and 72nd primary schools until the 1948-1950 academic year, was named Aksaray 1st - Aksaray 2nd Primary School in the same year upon the proposal of the school administration. Kamil Özkurt, who was appointed as the director of our school, which worked as a trial school in the 1960-1961 academic year, was a graduate of the Mahmudiye School of 1924-1925, and on the 100th anniversary of the historical name of the school with an honorable past, with the decision number 4 and date 24.05.1973 of the Directorate of National Education has been able to receive.

Until 1991, it continued its education and training activities as Deneme Primary School. It has been serving as a primary school with meals and studies since 1991.

It has continued to serve as a primary school since 1997-1998 academic year and gave its first graduates of eight-year education in the 1999-2000 academic year.
